Handy Hints & Tips
We have gathered a few of our handy hints
and tips.
Top Talon Tips
-
Always use a basecoat
before applying polish as it prevents staining of the nail and using a
topcoat helps the polish last longer.
-
If you make a mistake when
applying your polish, using a cotton bud with a little nail polish remover
to remove the unwanted polish on your skin.
-
When filing your nails, always go
from the side to the middle. NEVER saw backwards and forwards as this
makes the nail weak.
-
Apply cuticle oil every
night before you go to sleep. This will nourish your nails and encourage
them to grow.
-
Moisturise
your hands before you go to sleep, paying attention to cuticles and ∕3 of the way down the finger as this is
where the "matrix" is. (The matrix is where the nail begins its growth).
-
For problem nails such as
weak, brittle nails, we recommend Sally
Hansen products. They are great,
reasonably priced and can be found in normal High Street shops and Supermarkets.
-
If you are a nail biter, we
recommend Sally Hansen 'Maximum Growth' apply daily and visible results
in just 10 days!
-
If you do have short nails, avoid
dark polish as this emphasises shortness. Use light natural colours or
clear polish to make your nails shine.
Mini Manicure
Follow our steps for beautiful
healthy nails at least every 1-2 weeks.
-
Step 1: Shape nails using a nail
file
-
Step 2: Apply conditioning cuticle
remover and soak nails in warm water for approx 3 mins
-
Step 3: Using an orange stick,
gently push back cuticles and remove dead cuticle from the nail plate
-
Step 4: Rinse nails and dry
-
Step 5: Apply base coat
-
Step 6: Apply 2 coats of your
favourite polish or a clear polish for a natural look (allow to dry between
coats)
-
Step 7: Apply top coat when polish
is completely dry

Want your eye shadow to stay on
longer? Apply specially formulated eye foundation - Apply a neutral base
eye shadow - Moisten your eye shadow brush - Apply your favourite eye shadow.
Applying Mascara
-
If your eye lashes are really straight then
it may be an idea to curl them. There are many different types of eye lash
curlers available from plastic, metal and heated for extra definition. Eye
lash curlers open up your eyes and make them look bigger.
-
Apply mascara to bottom lashes first but
not too thick
-
Apply mascara to the top of your lashes
before you apply to the underneath. Hold the brush above the lashes and
comb the wand downwards, then hold the wand under your lashes and apply upwards.
Always apply from the centre outwards
-
When your mascara is dry, use a mascara
comb to comb through lashes and remove any clumps or lashes that have stuck
together.
Tor's Top Tip To help avoid your mascara becoming gloopy and clumpy, do not pump the
wand in and out of the mascara, instead just insert the wand, twist then remove
and apply your mascara
Lips
Lipstick
always adds the finishing touch to anybody's makeup.
-
To soften your lips, apply moisturiser or
lip balm
-
To even out the colour of your lips, apply
foundation before applying your lip colour
-
Apply lip liner to define the shape of your
lips and to prevent your lip colour from 'bleeding'
-
When applying lipstick, use a lip brush,
this gives you more control on application
Tor's Top Tip If you are using a dark colour on your eyes then use a light lip
colour and if you use a light eye colour you can use a dark lip colour.
